The scalloped version of Dexter’s spreader is a deliberate two-in-one. The face still loads and sweeps condiments like a plain spreader, but the serrated edge will draw through a finished sandwich or a soft roll, which a blunt spreader cannot.
On a fast counter that removes a tool change. It is not a substitute for a proper sandwich knife on a full-height build, but for halving a round or splitting a roll it saves picking up a second blade.
Dexter-Russell has made cutlery in Southbridge, Massachusetts since 1818 and is the oldest cutlery manufacturer in the United States. The Sani-Safe line is its NSF-certified foodservice range, built around a textured polypropylene handle moulded to the tang so there is no seam for food to lodge in.
