A hard-shell case moulded to the curve of a banana, with a carabiner on one end. The whole problem it solves is that a banana packed loose in a bag arrives as a bruise, and this is a rigid shell that takes the crushing instead of the fruit.
It clips to the outside of a backpack, a lunch bag or a stroller, which is where it earns its keep – the banana rides outside and nothing inside the bag gets smeared. It opens and closes on a simple latch, rinses out, and is sized for a standard banana rather than a novelty one.
Banana Saver has been manufactured in the United States since 2005 and is packaged at a sheltered workshop near the company in Medina, Ohio.
