This is a Zildjian crash cymbal in the A Custom line, 18 inch, model A20534. Zildjian mixes and rolls its own bronze rather than buying finished blanks, and the lathing and hammering that set the pitch and decay are done on its own machines.
The accent hit – short attack and fast decay so it clears out of the way of the next bar.
Avedis Zildjian Company has been casting cymbals since 1623 and has made them in Massachusetts since 1929, where its B20 bronze alloy is still mixed and rolled in house.
