The Klein D248-9ST is a 9-inch diagonal cutting plier built for ironworkers. It has a 13-degree angled head, a hooked handle, short beveled jaws, and induction-hardened cutting knives, and it is made in the USA from custom U.S.-made tool steel.
Klein designs this plier around rebar tie wire: the angled head lets the plier reach into bar intersections without fighting the cage, and the hooked handle keeps the plier from sliding out of a gloved hand when the ironworker pulls and twists. The rivet sits closer to the cutting edge for 36% more cutting power on soft annealed rebar tie wire. Short jaws and beveled edges allow a close cut after twisting off the wire tail.
This plier is intended for tying reinforcing steel on commercial and residential concrete jobs, and also works as a rebar cutter and bender on light-gauge tie wire and small rod.
Klein Tools manufactures the D248-9ST in the USA from U.S.-made tool steel and has supplied the electrical and ironworking trades since 1857.
