This is Fiesta’s 12-inch Round Baking and Serving Platter in Lapis — a ceramic flat round in the deep cobalt-navy Lapis glaze, with enough oven-rating to handle a personal pizza, a sheet of roasted vegetables, or a round of appetizers straight from the oven. Twelve inches is pizza-stone sized; it fits a standard home-made pizza without crowding the crust.
The platter doubles as a serving piece — the color and glaze make it a legitimate table centerpiece rather than a utility round. Lapis reads dark and solid — the platter anchors the center of a table and makes lighter-colored food (roasted chicken, pizza cheese, pale vegetables) stand out clearly. Dishwasher, microwave, and oven-safe to 500°F, which is what lets it go from the oven directly to the table.
Fiesta has been making this dinnerware at its factory in Newell, West Virginia since 1936 — one of the longest-running domestic pottery operations in the country. Every piece is cast, fired, and glazed at that Newell plant, which is why the colors stay consistent from one collection to the next.
