Maglite flashlights are machined from solid aluminum at the company’s plant in Ontario, California, where they’ve been made continuously since 1974. Every light features a knurled aluminum body, O-ring-sealed construction, and a focusable beam that adjusts from flood to spot with a twist of the head. The line runs from compact AAA pocket lights up to full-size D-cell flashlights used by law enforcement, first responders, and homeowners.
The Solitaire is Maglite’s smallest flashlight — a 1-cell AAA keychain light sized to clip onto a key ring, slip into a coin pocket, or ride along in a purse. The LED model puts out 37 lumens on a single AAA battery with enough runtime to handle everyday tasks like finding a dropped earring or checking a fuse box. The all-aluminum body survives years of pocket carry without denting or scratching.
Mag Instrument, Inc. was founded by Anthony Maglica, a machinist who started the company in a small shop in Ontario, California in 1955 and introduced the original Maglite flashlight in 1979. Every component of every Maglite is still manufactured and assembled at that same California facility — Maglica has turned down decades of pressure to move production overseas. The brand is one of a shrinking number of consumer products still made entirely in the United States.
