4-oz drop-forged steel head on a turned hickory handle — light enough to control with two fingers but solid enough to drive small rivets cleanly. The round-end pein is sized for jewelry findings, eyeglass screw posts, and miniature riveting. Hickory handle gives the right feedback for precision work.
Watchmakers, jewelers, model-makers, hobbyist gunsmiths, and luthiers all keep one of these on the bench. Also useful for anyone who has to reset a small rivet or shape a tiny piece of metal that a normal hammer would crush.
Vaughan has been forging hammers in Hebron, Illinois since 1869.
