This is the D3 5.5 Qt dutch oven. All-Clad’s D3 construction is three bonded layers, an aluminium core between two of stainless, bonded through the full body and up the sides rather than only across the base — which is why heat reaches the walls of the pan instead of pooling underneath.
Bare bonded stainless takes and holds a fond, which is what you want if you deglaze; it is not the pan for eggs without fat. Oven and broiler safe to 600°F, induction compatible and dishwasher safe, though hand washing keeps the exterior polish. All-Clad backs it with a limited lifetime warranty.
All-Clad has bonded cookware at its Canonsburg, Pennsylvania factory since 1971 — the company invented the category. The D3 line is made there. Some All-Clad specialty and bakeware items are made in China, so this listing was checked on its own bullets rather than assumed.
