Drop-forged from C1080 American high-carbon steel, with knurled jaws designed to grip without slipping and the same laser-heat-treated cutting edge that’s a Channellock signature. The 9.5-inch length is the working size — long enough for leverage on plumbing, short enough to fit in tighter spaces than the 440. Tongue-and-groove channel locks at seven jaw widths up to 1.5 inches.
The all-purpose plier. Used for kitchen faucet stems, P-traps under sinks, dishwasher hose connections, garden-hose fittings, automotive coolant lines, and as the plier that comes out first when the toolbox opens. Most home toolboxes have one of these even if they don’t have any other Channellock.
Channellock has been forging pliers in Meadville, Pennsylvania since 1886.
