Five inches is a compact utility length — bigger than a parer, smaller than a sandwich knife. The scalloped serration lets it bite into a tomato or a roll immediately, which a plain edge this short struggles to do without a sawing run-up.
It handles the small serrated jobs: halving rolls, slicing tomatoes for a burger line, cutting citrus, portioning soft fruit. The short blade keeps it manageable on a crowded board where a 9-inch slicer is in the way.
Dexter-Russell has manufactured cutlery in Southbridge, Massachusetts since 1818, and its 360 series is the company’s current handle platform.
