The Field Company No.14 Extra-Large Cast Iron Skillet is the entertaining-size skillet in the line, a 13.4-inch pan sized for 6-8 servings, hearth-style group dinners, and the kind of Sunday-supper large-format cooking the smaller skillets can’t accommodate. The machined-smooth surface and lighter-than-traditional weight let one cook handle a 13-inch skillet that would be a two-hand lift in conventional rough-cast iron.
Use it for group breakfast hash for 6-8, large skillet pizzas, oven-baked deep-dish skillet desserts (cobbler for a dinner party, giant chocolate-chip skillet cookie), 6-burger sears, party-size paella, and any large-format cast iron cooking. The lighter weight makes it the largest size that still works as a single-cook pan rather than a two-cook collaborative effort.
Field Company is a small American family-owned cast iron maker, casting at U.S. foundries and machining the cooking surfaces in-house. Every Field skillet is modeled on the lighter, smoother cast iron of pre-1900 American kitchens.
