This is a hard-anodized aluminum GrillGrate set sized to drop into a Large Big Green Egg or a Kamado Joe Classic. The panels are reversible: rails up to sear, flat side up for a griddle surface that will hold shrimp, vegetables, or anything that would otherwise fall through.
Kamado cookers hold serious heat, and the aluminum panels take advantage of it — they conduct better than the ceramic-and-steel setup underneath and even out the hot spots. The valleys catch fat and turn it into smoke rather than a grease fire in a sealed ceramic cooker, which is a fire you do not want.
GrillGrate has manufactured its grates in Cartersville, Georgia since 2007, and the panels are hard-anodized so they will not rust.
