The John Boos Prestige Series 16×10 Inch Maple Cutting Board is a mid-size edge-grain board with a juice-catching groove on one face and a finger-grip hole at one end that lets the user hang the board on a wall hook between uses or grab it one-handed from a drawer. The 6-pound weight balances substance against everyday usability — heavy enough to stay put under the knife but light enough to handle without two-hand effort.
Use it as the everyday kitchen cutting board for a couple or small family, a roast-carving board for smaller cuts, a backup board to a larger prep surface, a kitchen-counter display piece when not in use (the maple finish hangs well), and any application where the hand-grip hole earns its keep. The reversible smooth side handles general prep when the juice groove isn’t needed.
John Boos has been hand-crafting butcher blocks in Effingham, Illinois since 1887 — the company that supplied butcher blocks to the original Chicago meat-packing district. Every Boos board is made from sustainably-sourced Northern hard maple and finished in food-safe Boos Block Cream.
