Made from genuine recycled Dacron sailcloth — sails that have actually been used and salt-weathered — handsewn into a medium tote on Portland’s working waterfront. The screen-printed anchor on the front is the brand’s signature. Hemp-rope handles are stitched directly through the bottom panel for a load-bearing handle that doesn’t tear out at the seam the way fashion-tote handles do.
The tote that lives in a beach-house mudroom, gets pulled out for grocery runs, and survives a decade of salt-air abuse without softening or fraying. Each bag is one-of-one — sail material varies by panel, weathering varies by source, no two are identical. Pairs with the Sea Bags totes for sister gifts and bridesmaid gifts on coastal weddings.
Sea Bags has been handsewing recycled-sail bags in Portland, Maine since 1999.
