The A0618 is an 18-inch China Trash from Zildjian’s FX series, made deliberately raw so the attack arrives loud and disorganised and then gets out of the way. It is an effects cymbal, not a general-purpose crash.
It punctuates breakdowns, stops, and transitions in heavier music, and stacks well on top of another cymbal for a shorter, dirtier voice. Played as a ride it delivers a wash with a hard edge.
The Avedis Zildjian Company has made cymbals since 1623 and manufactures them at its factory in Norwell, Massachusetts; its drumsticks are turned at the company’s Newport, Maine plant.
