A spreader with a scalloped edge and a shaped rosewood handle. The flat face moves soft condiments without tearing bread, and the serrated side cuts through a finished sandwich, so one tool covers the whole build.
It suits a home counter or a small deli where the tool sits out and gets used all day: butter on a roll, cream cheese on a bagel, then the cut. The wooden handle is the reason to choose this over the moulded foodservice versions.
Dexter-Russell has made cutlery and kitchen tools in Southbridge, Massachusetts since 1818 and remains the oldest American maker of them.
