The Estwing 12-Pound Hard Face Sledge Hammer is a heavy demolition sledge with a 50-55 HRC hard-face head locked to a 36-inch fiberglass handle. The hard-face heat treatment resists the mushrooming and chipping that softer sledge heads develop after years of stake driving and concrete demolition.

Use it for residential demolition (drywall, concrete steps, masonry), fence-post and t-post stake driving, splitting maul work on hardwood firewood, breaking up old concrete patios, foundation form-removal work, and any heavy-impact application where a 12-pound head delivers more breaking force than the 8- or 10-pound sledges. The fiberglass handle has overstrike protection where the handle meets the head — the textured grip resists slip in wet hands.

Estwing has been forging American hammers in Rockford, Illinois since 1923 — over 100 years of US tool making. Estwing’s E-series and B-series hammers are forged from American steel and carry the company’s lifetime warranty.
