4 quarts is the in-between size — bigger than a 2-quart for daily simmering, smaller than a 6-quart so it doesn’t take up half the cooktop. 5-ply construction means the heat comes up the sides as well as the bottom, so soup at the edge of the pan cooks at the same rate as soup in the middle. Tempered glass lid lets you see when something’s about to boil over without having to lift it.
This is the daily simmer pot — pasta, oatmeal, chili, big-batch soup for the freezer, hardboiled eggs for the week. It also doubles as the backup pan when the main saucepan is already in use.
