This is the Marshalltown 153D hand float, a 24-inch cast magnesium blade with a beveled end and a DuraSoft handle. Magnesium is light and glides over fresh concrete, opening the surface and bringing up the cream for finishing.
It works the slab after screeding to level ridges, fill voids, and prepare the surface for troweling. The long blade covers ground quickly while the soft handle eases the reach.
Marshalltown has made concrete floats in Marshalltown, Iowa since 1890, and cast magnesium is its signature flatwork material.
