This is the Lodge 17-inch skillet — the largest round cast iron skillet Lodge makes, with a full-length handle on one side and a loop helper handle on the other. At 17 inches it cooks for a family or a party: pan-seared chicken for six, a paella, a weekend fish fry, or breakfast for a houseful of guests.
It’s the outdoor-or-indoor skillet — big enough to use over a grill side-burner or an open fire, heavy enough to hold temperature when a full pan of food hits it at once. The helper handle is essential at this size because a loaded 17-inch cast iron skillet needs two hands to move safely. Pre-seasoned and oven-safe to any temperature.
Lodge has been making cast iron cookware in South Pittsburg, Tennessee since 1896 — the longest continuously operating cast iron foundry in the United States. Every traditional black cast iron piece in the Lodge lineup is cast, seasoned, and packed at that Tennessee foundry.
