This is the Vaughan SF6, a 6-ounce soft-face hammer that pairs a forged steel head with replaceable striking faces for blow without damage. The light head gives close control for delicate seating work.
It earns its keep on the bench for tapping in dowels, seating bearings and pins, and adjusting parts that a bare steel hammer would dent. The handle is sized for one-handed precision.
Vaughan has forged striking tools in Hebron, Illinois since 1869, and the soft-face line reflects the same head quality as its full-size hammers.
