Four feet square, 10.5 inches deep, in 1/2-inch North American cedar. This is the shape most gardening books assume: sixteen one-foot squares, each planted differently, all within reach from outside the frame.
Nobody needs to step on the soil, which keeps it loose and draining. Ten inches is enough depth for most vegetables short of long roots, and the Classic boards keep the cost down if you are laying out several beds at once.
Greenes Fence has been building cedar garden structures in Ohio since 1947, working with North American timber.
