This Coveside convertible box solves a year-round problem in one design: in spring the interior is set up for nesting with a high entry and clear floor, and in winter you reverse the components so the entry sits low and interior perches let small birds roost together against the cold. The Eastern white pine body insulates the cavity in either mode.
Mount it on a post or tree in a sheltered spot and switch the configuration as the seasons turn, giving chickadees, titmice, and wrens a nesting site in summer and a warm roost in winter. The side panel opens for cleaning whenever you change it over.
Coveside has been handcrafting bird habitats in Maine for decades, using sustainably sourced wood and versatile designs trusted by backyard birders nationwide.
