The Granberg Basic MK-IV Alaskan Chainsaw Mill is the bare carriage of the original Alaskan portable sawmill — the C-shaped frame that bolts to a chainsaw bar and lets a single user mill flat slabs and dimensional lumber from felled logs in the field. The Basic configuration ships without the EZ Rail crossbar set so users who already own a rail system can buy the carriage standalone.
The MK-IV frame is the platform Granberg has refined since 1955 — adjustable height stops set the slab thickness from 1/2 inch up to 13 inches, the rugged steel frame absorbs vibration from the saw, and the dual handles let one operator pull the mill across a 36-inch bar without a helper. Compatible with chainsaws from 50cc up to 120cc and bars from 24 inches to 36 inches; pair with the Granberg G781-36 or G781-48 handle and rail set to convert the carriage into a complete rail-based mill.
Granberg manufactures the Alaskan Mark IV in Richmond, California, where the company has built portable chainsaw mills since 1955. The MK-IV carries Made in USA designation per the manufacturer’s listing. Pair this carriage with the Granberg G778 36-inch complete kit upgrade or the EZ Rail G1085 5-foot guide system when you want to mill consistent boards from rough log stock.
