This is the Chris King InSet 7 in Bold Black, a zero-stack headset for frames running tapered steerer tubes. The sealed cartridge bearings are made in King’s Portland factory and the machined cups press into 44mm head tubes with classic King precision.
It steers road, cyclocross, and gravel builds through seasons of grit without developing play, replacing the disposable stock headsets that tapered frames usually ship with. Install once and forget it exists.
Chris King Precision Components has machined bicycle components in Portland, Oregon since 1976, making its own bearings from domestic-mill materials and anodizing parts in-house.
