The Lodge Cast Iron Double Dutch Oven is a 5-quart cast iron pot with a 10.25-inch cast iron skillet that serves as both the dutch oven’s lid and a stand-alone skillet — two pans for the price and storage space of one. The lid-skillet’s cast iron mass holds heat the way light aluminum lids never can, making the closed dutch oven mimic commercial steam-injected bread ovens for sourdough loaves.
Use it as a dutch oven for sourdough and no-knead bread baking (the cast iron lid creates the steam-trapping environment bread baking demands), braised short ribs and pork shoulder, slow-cooked beans and stew, whole-chicken roasting, soup making, and the lid as a stand-alone 10.25-inch skillet for everyday cooking. Two pieces of cookware in one purchase.
Lodge has been casting iron cookware in South Pittsburg, Tennessee since 1896 — over 125 years of American foundry-making. Every Lodge piece is pre-seasoned with vegetable oil and arrives ready to cook out of the box.
