This is a Rada tomato slicer in model R139, cast brushed-aluminum handles. Every blade is T420 high-carbon stainless, hollow-ground so the edge stays thin behind the bevel rather than wedging through what you are cutting, and the handles are cast solid aluminum, so there is no hollow rattle and no rivet seam to loosen.
Ripe tomatoes, citrus and crusty rolls, where a straight edge compresses the food before it starts cutting.
Rada Mfg. Co. has been making cutlery in Waverly, Iowa since 1948, and grinds and assembles every blade at that plant.
