This is a boxed Rada set in model R142, pack of 2, cast brushed-aluminum handles. Every blade is T420 high-carbon stainless, hollow-ground so the edge stays thin behind the bevel rather than wedging through what you are cutting, and the handles are cast solid aluminum, so there is no hollow rattle and no rivet seam to loosen.
Coring, peeling, hulling and trimming – the small in-hand jobs a full-size blade is too long to control. Buying it boxed also makes it the set people hand on at a wedding or a housewarming.
Rada Mfg. Co. has been making cutlery in Waverly, Iowa since 1948, and grinds and assembles every blade at that plant.
