Thirty-six inches square, 11 inches deep, in 3/4-inch North American cedar. It sits in the gap between a planter and a full bed: more soil than a container, less commitment than a 4-by-8 frame.
Three feet across means you can reach the centre from any side, which suits a bed placed against nothing in particular — the middle of a lawn, a courtyard, a corner of a deck. Eleven inches takes bush beans, beets and chard comfortably.
Greenes Fence has been building cedar garden structures in Ohio since 1947, working with North American timber.
