A solid option if swivel peelers keep tearing through soft skins on you. The R132 uses a fixed T420 high-carbon stainless blade, hollow-ground like the knives, so it shaves rather than scrapes and pulls a continuous strip off a potato instead of chattering across it.
It handles the everyday load: carrots and potatoes before a roast, cucumber for a salad, a butternut squash where a thin swivel blade would flex and skip. The cast aluminum handle has enough mass to stay put in a wet hand, and there is no pivot joint to collect starch and seize up.
Rada Mfg. Co. has been making cutlery in Waverly, Iowa since 1948, and grinds and assembles every blade at that plant.
